Apparently Anne and I have been blessed with pure and clean hearts after our hike into the Taktshang Goemba or Tiger's Nest Monastery. Perched on the side of a sheer cliff 900 m above the floor of the Paro Valley - this is the most famous of Bhutan's monasteries. It is said that the Guru Rinpoche flew to the site of the monastery on the back of a tigress (a manifestation of his wife) to subdue the local demon. He then stayed and meditated in a cave here for 3 years, 3 months and 3 days.
We hiked up the well trodden trail, passing (and being passed) by visitors from all around the world. It was a tough slog - our lungs were burning and we moved slowly but purposely up and down the steps in the trail - but is was worth the climb! The elevation at the monastery is 3140 metres. And according to Anne's app - we hiked 12 km. It was a great prelude to our trek in Nepal and we tried out our trekking gear. The good news is that we did not collapse or need to be carried down the mountain!

Tough broads. Love it!
